I am also gay.
Result?
I love discovering great gay-themed films.
I'd like to share with you a few of these great films I've discovered, and then also just give a few general film recommendations for the hell of it!
I'm only going to cover films that I've seen, so this is more of a personal opinion post, showcasing what I have discovered in the hopes that others would enjoy them too.
Without further ado, in no particular order:
1) Big Eden (Drama/Romance)
This film is so simple and yet so wonderful. At it's core, it's an often predictable romance. But really it's much more than that. Where most other gay films are worrying - for good reason - about things like bigotry and coming out in a society that still doesn't always accept us, this film moves past all that. Big Eden is set in a small, fictional town, where these difficulties don't exist. This makes Big Eden very special, and it helps that it's so well done.

2) C.R.A.Z.Y. (Drama)
This film is incredible. We follow the story of a child growing up in the 1960/70s, as both he and his family struggle to come to terms with him being gay.
This film will surprise you, relate to you, make you laugh, and make you cry. And on top of that, its music score is comprised of the likes of Pink Floyd, Patsy Cline, and other great musicians of the time. Don't miss it.

3) Happy Together (Comedy/Drama/Romance)
Certainly not your typical romance, drama, or comedy, Happy Together explores the bumpy relationship of Yiu-Fai and Po-Wing. The director, Kar Wai Wong, has a very stylized approach which lends to its uniqueness. I think it's not a film everyone would enjoy, but I highly recommend it.

4) Weekend (Drama/Romance)
A very frank - and wonderful - film, taking place over one weekend. This film touches upon many themes very relevant today in a very intelligent manner, while telling the story of two men who contemplate turning a one night stand into something more meaningful.

As promised, I'll list a few of my favourite overall films, because I can't help it :)
The favourites I'll list are those which I think are least well known and yet most powerful/impressive/relatable/important-to-see. Also, as you might be able to tell I'm not a big fan of giving plot descriptions. It's my personal opinion that a film is more enjoyable when you go into it not knowing what it's about! :)
